School Hours & Calendar
School Hours
School commences at 9am and concludes at 1pm, Monday to Friday. Please be punctual in bringing and picking up your child. This will encourage them, through example, to honour commitments at an early age.
Annual Calendar
There are 4 terms per year, each term lasting between 9 and 11 weeks. Generally each term commences during the months of January, April, July and October. Public holidays falling within the school year are observed.
Baha'i Holy Days
The Brilliant Star Montessori School is inspired by the principles of the Baha’i Faith and emphasises equality, unity and love for all in its curriculum. Baha’is have nine Holy Days a year where work and school is exempted. Baha’i Holy Days falling during the school week are hence observed at the Brilliant Star Montessori School. On these days the School will be closed but will resume the following school day at the usual time. The Principal will send out a reminder notice well in advance.
Birthdays
Should you wish to celebrate your child’s birthday at the School, please consider a simple cake without chocolate, peanuts or rich cream, as some students may be allergic. Please consult with the principal ahead of time.
Parents Participation
It would be appreciated if parents adhere to School policies and regulations at all times. Throughout the year you will be invited to attend meetings with the School Board, Principal, and to parent interviews and social or fund-raising functions. Your participation is always warmly welcomed.
Annual Activities at the School
Family Fun Day
The School organises a Family Fun Day on the school grounds. Filled with activities including face painting, a garage sale, art activities, sale of ice-cream, food and vegetables has been found not only to be a good means to bring children, parents, relatives and teachers together to get to know each other and have fun, but also to help raise funds for school equipment, toys, stationary and/or other materials. Active participation of parents to help the School organise the event is encouraged.
End of Year Celebrations
Before the end of the 4th term, the School organises an End of Year Concert put on for parents and relatives. Children perform on a stage. A documentary of the event is usually prepared and is available for parents to buy.
Individual & Group Photos
The School contacts a local professional Photo Studio to take school, class and individual photos of children and their families, if they so wish. Parents can order copies of any pictures of preference.
Personalised Calendars
The Photo Studio prepares eye-catching calendars for the subsequent calendar year indicating the School terms and holidays. The calendar features a picture, chosen from an individual, a class or a school photo. If parents would like to have their photo with the children on the calendar, this can be arranged. Copies of calendars are ordered in advance together with school photos.
